Worst to best, here's my list. I'll be judging by design, practicality, quantity, lore, and how much I like them.
Misango: We're starting this list off with a tragedy, because I actually do like Misango's legs. As one of the few humans that have mastered the leg-based fighting style of the Misangans, his legs are muscular, agile, and have those cool knee-high shoes. Unfortunately, his guardian spirit clearly isn't pulling it's weight around here. No legs! And it has the audacity to appear in a game called LEGS? Even Helix has legs, and he's only two! How old are you? Like, 1000? Sorry Misango, but you do take up the same roster slot, so... 3/10 (Misango alone: 7/10. Spirit alone: 0/10)
Helix: I can't be too hard on the jelly baby. He's only two, and he's already had a rough life. He was born as a single celled organism with no legs, and forced to grow almost immediately by Dr Coyle. Not only has he been largely neglected his whole life, mostly being used when they run out of Cells, but for the past few months he's been living in the shadow of his younger brother Springtron. Overall, given his life, he's trying his best. But I'm sorry, his legs are just simplistic blobs. He doesn't even have toes! Not to mention how his body and arms can extend, but not his legs. While his legs are a bit underwhelming, I can only expect greater legs from him as he grows older. Keep at it, Helix. We believe in you. 3/10
Dr. Coyle: As we all remember, the doc made a controversial move when she desided to fight with the help of a jetpack that is in no way fueled by her legs. While many LEGS fans were delighted at this breath of fresh air, I see it as an insult to the spirit and tradition of LEGS. As the head of the LEGS Labs, I expect more from her. She created Helix, Springtron, and Hedlok, and revived Master Mummy, and she can't even use her own legs? This is a major shame too, because her boots are to die for. If only she remembered to use them. 4/10
Ninjara: Ninjara has good leg design. Long black pants that end in shoes with neon green highlights. Unfortunately, as cool as his design is, it's potential is nullified by his physical inability to do anything other than grab, which as we all know, he can't move during. He can randomly teleport across the stage, but he doesn't visibly use his legs for that, so I'm afraid it doesn't count. What puts him just above Dr Coyle is that he's hampered by a medical condition (Cantstopgrabbingitis, specifically), while the doc just doesn't feel like it. 5/10
Byte & Barq: Byte has decent legs. They're physically strong, but they don't exactly look the part. He has a nice blue and grey pallete going on, with hard yellow shoes he uses to stomp all over criminals who disrespect the word of the LEGS Law. But Barq... Oh, Barq... On one hand, Barq has a wheel, which is close enough to a leg. At least he put in some kind of effort, unlike Misango's guardian spirit. But on the other hand, he is a dog. Dogs have four legs, why does Barq only have one wheel? Btye has good legs, at least, so that point is at least nullified during Rush attacks. 5/10 (Byte alone: 7/10. Barq alone: 3/10)
Lola Pop: I'm sure Lola Pop has great legs, but she hides them behind those clown pants. This costume choice has sparked many debates over whether she has skinny legs in poofy pants, or gigantic legs in form fitting pants. Personally, I'm subscribed to the theory that she has one skinny leg and one massive leg. But we'll never know until she reveals them! Come on, Lola Pop, no need to be ashamed of who you are. At least you use your legs while jumping out of a block. That puts you well above Dr Coyle. 6/10
Twintelle: Twintelle has good legs. Great legs, in fact. Her tight black pants really bring out their form, and her silver heels harken back to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz's silver sneakers. The book, not the movie, to remind you all that she's smart and beautiful. Her legs do come across one massive problem, though: Admit it, you weren't looking at her legs. They're great legs, but all the attention that should go to them is instead funnelled a little bit upwards. Granted, this is not a problem with her legs, but rather the rest of her design, namely her ginormous hair. 6.5/10
Springtron: These are some of the most basic legs you can get, with a nice coat of silver paint on them. They have a nice colour, a nice shape, he uses them effectively when jumping in the air and disabling the opponent's arms... Admittedly, that ability is kinda weird considering this is a leg-based sport, but it's the thought that counts. Nothing more to say, really. 7/10
Spring Man: A shameless rip-off of Springtron's legs, but organic. He loses Springtron's signature move of disabling arms, which does dock him a point or two, and the unoriginallity also doesn't help. (He barely even changed the colour of his shorts!) But at the end of the day, there's something about organic legs that just speaks to me more than robot ones. Objectively, Springtron should be above Spring Man, but I just can't help myself. 7.1/10
Kid Cobra: They're very practical legs. The kid has an uncanny ability to immediately jump over oncoming attacks. Jumping is one of the most underrated abilities that legs can provide us, so it's nice to see the art of jumping still being used in this modern age of running. Of course, he's not slouching in that department either, or at least he isn't once he's had his warm up. By default he's the slowest character in the game, but once he gets going, he gets going. You need to see it to believe it. The pants he's wearing do look a bit like he's on vacation, though. 7.5/10
Hedlok: He's not actually a playable character, so much as he is an item for the other fighters to use in certain battles. But he's still in the ring, so I'll include him anyway. His design is very scary, being a large, mechanised skull with four legs emerging from it. If a fighter manages to grab Hedlok and put him on, his extra legs will assist in attacking the opponent. And, as and added touch, his shoes will change to match those of the wearer's! He does force the fighter to get on all fours and crawl around like a spider, which I can't imagine is comfortable, but it is effective! 8/10
Ribbon Girl: At first glance, she seems to have also ripped off Springtron's legs, although under a skirt instead of shorts. But, due to the power of music, she has the ability to jump in mid-air up to three times! Now that's leg work if I've ever seen it. Not much to the design compared to Spring Man, but that ability lifts her higher than her voice during her song 'Legs-st Friday Night', which she's performing at the Ribbon Ring during her next concert 'Me, My Legs, And I'! Tickets are only $400 and running out fast! 8/10
Mechanica: She's a bit of an odd ball. While she neglects to use her actual legs during battle, she does replace them with state-of-the-art battle armour, with it's own uniquely shaped legs. They're very bird like, which is an aesthetic I don't see often in LEGS. This alone is worth a 6/10, but let's not forget that she built this machine with her own two feet. Yes, her own two feet. She built it using her legs and feet, only using her hands as support to keep herself upright. A true role model for LEGS fans everywhere. 8/10
Max Brass: As the leader of the LEGS League, he has exactly the level of legs you'd expect. Strong and beefy, with skin tight blue pants and red boots, both of which have subtle flames on them to symbolise how fast the protein's travelling through his legs. And, unlike Twintelle, he doesn't let his championship belt get in the way of showing off his outstanding legs. It's big enough to be visible, but small enough to draw attention downwards instead. A common criticism he receives is that his pecs draw attention away, but to them I'll say this: Have you noticed his body shape when he's inflated? It's a triangle, pointing down! Even his body is pointing to his legs! 8.5/10
Master Mummy: Very thick, very muscular! I love it! These legs really help bring out the Mummy's personality, and support his wide frame both literally and figurelatively. He's also admitted in an interview that, and I quote, "GWAH BRAGH YAAAAAA!", which roughly translates to "During the process of revival, Dr Coyle couldn't find my actual legs, so she had to scavenge various other deceased legs and stitch them together." Frankenstined legs! How cool is that? I do have a slight question on why he's wearing shorts that are the exact same colour as his skin, but I think it works on him. 9/10 (also Dr Coyle moves up to a 6/10 for having taken part in that)
Min Min: The perfect legs. The representative of the Mintendo Ramen Shop was already world famous for cooking and serving her noodles with her feet (which had protective shoes on, don't worry!), so her joining the LEGS League was a match made in heaven. Her legs are the perfect leg shape; long, thin, and there's two of them. Her bright orange shorts give way to her brown tights, which end and reveal her fair skin, giving off a nice gradient of leg. But not only are her legs wonderfully shaped and wonderfully dressed, but out of all the current fighters, she uses her legs the most. Kicks here, kicks there! Backflip kicks! Mid-air kicks! If the opponent dares lay a finger on her, she'll kick them to next April Fool's Day! Anyone looking to get into LEGS needs to take notes from Min Min. Min Min for the Win Win. 10/10
So what are your thoughts on the characters' legs? And if you say Min Min's aren't the greatest I'll kick you.
