New game need some recommendations

First off, I need some setting recommendations bc I’m not trynna sink 300 hrs in this gameplay. Played a couple games but never beat any bosses yet so I plan on doing it this playthrough (p much straight solo) also looking for any recommendations for animals to look for, base locations, and any mods y’all feel make the game better.(tried a meat spoiler one and it made life so much better)
