What’s the difference between x-creatures, aberrant and regular creatures

So I’ve been playing more and more of the dlc’s and I’ve noticed these different types of creatures. The volcano X variants are absolutely beautiful, and I can tame them for my tribe, but what’s the difference between the different types?
As well as, can X/aberrant versions breed with regular versions?
