ar10 308 suppressor ?

Hello, am I able to mount a .45 cal suppressor to my aero m5 308 as long as i get the correct thread count adapter ? I was told at a local firearms store that if you get .45 cal suppressor it will fit your 308 cal or smaller firearm just as long as you get an adapter or insert for whatever setup you have.
