new player- Why is the game so anti social?

I've been playing for a bit less then a week. Level 17 and I've yet to find a single person who actually talks or answers questions I have. Has the game always been like this?

I thought Wow was anti social but holy crap you guys don't even talk you just hop to a new room!

P. S. Looking for a guild that is active that doesn't mind new players.

Level 17, Rank 10 warrior with 4 Rank 5s. Working on farming gold for Daimon. Is Oracle still good? Who knowssss. What class should I work towards for boss soloing? Early/mid game unlock ideally.
