APCOMPSCI recursive MC question

For the one where you had to find kor something, it was recursive and you had to find what the variable would be so it would return 24 or 27. Most of the kids I talked to and I were pretty sure it was 3 but another kid said he thought it was 6. Anyone remember that one?
