I love serious fics and dark fics and all of these beautiful, well-written masterpieces that honestly need to be published somehow, but I was just thinking to myself about how when I was kid, the average fanfiction was like borderline crack-fic and unhinged. I'm talking this beautiful era between like 2007-2011 where the tropes were WILD, the crossovers were ridiculous, and the fanfiction culture just felt free. There's just something chaotic about the late 2000s/early 2010s where the vibe was just, ugh, immaculate.
Does anyone else miss it? Maybe, I'm just biased because I was so much younger and thus was into different stuff, but I dunno. I think it goes hand-in-hand with internet culture not yet being like established in the way that it is now. Like, even the posts on youtube were unhinged. I need to know I'm not crazy, y'all. I just want one min-revival. That's it. Then we can go back to making serious pieces of art.
