CYCLE 3 Hot Takes
Post Body

I have watched ANTM since I was a wee little girl and now with the power of streaming I am watching it from the beginning. I finished cycle 3 last night and I have some THINGS.

  • Ann did NOT deserve to be there for as long as she was. In the words of Jay Manuel "you haven't even gotten one photo you're lucky you're still here" Ann was giving "go girl give us nothing!!" She gave no wow factor, and she definely was not in touch with any creative inspiration.
  • Julie and Tocarra would have definitely been in the top 4. It pissed me off so bad when Ann was chosen over Tocarra. Tocarra has the body of a goddess and her personality matches. Ann over here was one of the instigators of the house and had nothing to show for it. If it wasn't for Julie being honest about her intentions she would've definitely made it farther. I understand that Julie saying what she said made it obvious for her to be sent home but Julie had the beauty and a definite wow factor.
  • This entire season was done poorly. Even going towards the end I felt that none of them had that high fashion approach compared to let's say Yoanna, or even Adrianne. At the final 4 judging panel Trya was like "NONE of you have what it takes to be a top model." well you chose 'em. Throughout the season I did not see any real growth in terms of high fashion. So much so that the experience level of the top 4 felt like we were still in the middle of the season. I feel like they skimped on teaching them things that could've gotten them there and focused more of the drama.
  • Yaya was stereotyped. On many instances they told her to keep her intelligence at the door which is SO OFFENSIVE. Yaya was right about not chosing that cheap kente cloth, because that was just a stereotypical trap. She was too ahead of her time in standing up for herself while being proud, african, and educated. Towards the end Yaya just had to shut up and take it which rubbed me the wrong way.
  • Overall this season has offended me the most so far, which the way they treated Yaya, the way no accomidations were made for Amanda, how Tocarra was treated at times, KELLE saying she had a monkey face!!! I was appalled. Then Cassie saying Jay Manuel looked disgusting in drag UGH you wish honey.
  • Norelle was so offensive to the Japanese culture, she had no willingness to learn. If it was this day and age nuh uh, she is lucky that she had success in East Asia.
  • Cycle 2 had all of the most gorgeous girls and makeovers. Cycle 3 bombshells were Amanda, Julie, Tocarra, Yaya, and Eva (bc of her eyes)
  • The Covergirl shoot was the only top model shoot in the entire show. Amanda and Eva really did look like Covergirls. I get it.
