Up until recently I wasn't really aware of this, but it has come to my attention that many fans of the Buffyverse do not like Angel, Season 5, Episode 13, 'Why We Fight'. This was the episode in which we saw Angel and Spike in the late 30s/early 40s on a captured German submarine. I've heard people say that they think it was a pointless and boring episode. While I agree Spike had no reason to be there other than to give someone for Angel to bounce off of (without spending unnecessary time developing repertoire with other characters), I personally love that episode. I may even go so far as to say it's my favourite. I'm also very fond of the character of Sam Lawson (though his appearance in the show is minimal and conflicting).
What is your opinion on this episode? Did you enjoy it?
I loved it.
Season 5 as a whole was a triumph.
