ryzen 5600u/5650u stability vs intel i5-1145g7
Post Body
Looking to pick up a cheap-ish thinkpad for my parents from last year for around $500-$600.
The L15 thinkpad models offer these two cpus. Main questions:
- Is the 5650u pretty stable on Windows? Any driver issues/crashing/etc I should worry about?
- Anything else I should consider?
Here's my main thoughts:
- 5650u pros: way better multi-core, and I think a little bit better battery life/heat profile? (7nm)
- intel i5-1145g7 pros: maybe more stable and better tested? nice that tiger lake has av1 hardware decoding which ryzen didn't get until 6800u. 5650u is 10nm, but I think this gen is pretty close to the 7nm of ryzen.
Main use cases will be for 70yo mom who mostly wants to web browse/do office stuff. So, my main goals would be:
- heat/fan noise battery life
- browser/JS scores for rendering websites
- laptop quality (screen, keyboard, touchpad, etc) - but plan on going L15 for this so they are the same.
