Hey All
Let me start this post by saying yes I’m an idiot who should be happy I have a new gpu instead of tinkering.
Computer Type: Desktop GPU: RX 6800 XT asus ROG strix LC CPU: RYZEN 5600X Motherboard: asus x570 tuf plus WiFi BIOS Version: can’t post to see. Was working with these components RAM: 32GB trident z 3600MHZ PSU: Corsair rm750x Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10 GPU Drivers: can’t get post to see Description of Original Problem:
I have the liquid cooled 6800xt from ASUS that won’t post and I’m hoping for suggestions.
I recently bought a new case to show off the 6800xt. The card ran fine before and this is the first time i was planning to vertical mount. I bought the linkup riser cable but set the pcie slot to pcie From auto to pcie 3.0 in case there were compatibility issues.
I love this card but I hate that they have the terrible mess of cables coming directly out of the gpu cooler to run up the aio tubes. So I decided to take off the cooler to see if I could determine where the plug in. I was hoping to use the mobo with aitweaker and Corsair fans so I could hid the unsightly wires. Sadly the blower fan for the vrm is merged with on of the fan cables, so I bought some aio tube covers to hide everything and hooked up the long cable runs to a pair of Corsair ql 120s
Before I put the cooler back on, I decided to apply thermal grizzly paste to see if I could shave a couple degrees off (not cryonaut, just normal paste)
I now have everything reinstalled but it will not post and gives me a vga error.
Troubleshooting: I have tried taking it off the riser cable and slotted it directly into the pci slot without success. I have unplugged all accessories in case of it being a power issue, no change. It was also working previously in my old case with the same number of fans/led on the same psu
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on additional troubleshooting. I plan to remove the cooler again today to make sure I didn’t misss something non my reinstall of the cooler but would really appreciate suggestions
