Post Body

Specs: i7 5820k MSI x99a sli plus Vega 56 (reference Sapphire) 550watt gold psu EVGA G2 (I know this seems low but the crash happens when not under load)

  • This crash happens fairly infrequently (I can go a day without a crash)

  • I can't remember but this may have happened on both windows and linux. 99% of the time I'm on windows

  • Most of the time it happens when I'm just browsing the web (with total pc power usage being measured as ~100watts at the plug) that said I'm probably doing that most of the time I'm on the PC. But it does seem to not happen under load.

  • When the crash happens all sound cuts (sound is not through GPU)

  • 2 Monitors, when the crash happens they change to a single colour that was very very likely being displayed before the crash (the colours are always different on each monitor)

  • Last time it crashed the load leds on the gpu locked at max, I'm not sure if that always happens.

  • Occasionally a few weeks ago when shutting down PC the AMD driver would report that memory was trying to be accessed from an address it didn't have permission to use. Likely unrelated.

  • Happens on default settings and oc and undervolt

My guess is either a GPU or PSU fault, I have another PC with a 650watt psu I might swap with, see if that helps (would be well over a week from now). If that doesn't help and if you guys are unable to help then I'm going to return the card.
