Description of Problem - Card was given to me (to test and to use) as the previous owner had pulled out the card to clean the inside of his tower and when he went to plug the card back in it would not longer recognize in his system. So I went to go about seeing if i ran into the same issue. I do. I am just trying to determine If I have done enough trouble-shooting to see if this card is still usable or if its now just a dud.
Trouble-shooting - I started by placing the card in my 3 pci-e x16 slots while also plugging in both the require 6 2 and 6 pin power connecters. The fans spin but the system does not recognize the card during this process. I have singled out the connecter where I only had 1 6 2 or 1 6 and during that time the fans wouldnt spin. I next plugged my hdmi cable into my onboard video to even see if the system would see the card using GPU-z and/or in my device manager. It does not. I ran the amd driver setup just to see if it would even find the card and it wouldnt here as well. I then plugged in my Nvidia card and did the same thing above to no avail. The only thing i know is that the fans spin when the power connecters are plugged in properly but the system just refuses to recognize the card. The only thing i havent done is updated my bios as i have read that that sometimes can fix the problem however im not as familiar with flashing etc so im trying to avoid doing that if at all possible. All cables (HDMI) work no problem with my old card as well with no issue.
I am grateful for any assistance however I do think that this card just might no longer be working and it may be a lost cause. Thank you.
