Tried posting in Arch and Manjaro subreddits for help, techsupport and AMD main support thread.
Running Arch on a Kabini/Temash APU (GCN 1.0) laptop. (Jaguar CPU cores, Codename Temash APU)
- Enabled CIK/SI flags in amdgpu.conf and radeon.conf per Arch Wiki
- Installed all Mesa packages.
- Using radv for Vulkan, and Clover for OpenCL but modern OpenCL like AMDs is required as clover is… something.
- How can I enable OpenCL for rusticl?
- or: how can I use an official AMD packaged OpenCL Solution? Make a PKGBUILD for the last pro drivers? PKGBUILD for last ROCm?
- Will be used in tandem with a neural compute stick and OpenVINO - so a modern OpenCL implementation is preferred/needed for that.
*Other steps for troubleshooting: *
- Posted on the Arch Linux Subreddit
- Posted on the Manjaro subreddit to see if it’s a better choice (however this is doubtful)
Backstory:
My niece is entering high school and is familir with Python. This is her laptop. Wants to work on making a cat-state identifier to see which cats are in her room, which are awake, sleeping, etc. she has 2 or three cameras for this.
*I’ve tried explaining that the neural compute stick is Intel, the laptop is AMD, and even tho there is good driver support for the compute stick using OpenVINO on Arch Linux, AMD doesn’t have good Linux support for even their newest stuff, etc. *
/r/whoosh for her - she’s a young, aspiring dev. I’m just her nerdy uncle LARPing DevOps for her. Disabled = no cash to buy a new laptop, etc.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
