Hi everyone. I'm 25F.
I was raised in a single parent household, and lived with my mom and older sister. We didn't have that much money, but I had a safe, stable childhood. When I was 18 and preparing to go off to college, they sat me down one night and told me the truth about our family. My mom explained that she was actually my grandmother, and that my sister was my biological mother.
When my bio mom was 14 she fell pregnant, and my grandmother passed me off as her own. I felt pretty numb to it and kind of still do, but I've undergone therapy in the following years and I feel I'm in a place where I can speak about it now. I'm still on good terms with them both and love them, but it's obviously a big thing to come to terms with.
I'll gladly answer questions commented here, but I'm not going to check DMs.
You’re not alone. A girl I went to school with had an “aunt” close in age who turned out to be her sister.
