AITA for refusing to babysit my niece because I wanted a day off?
Post Body

So basically I am working a full-time job, and my weekends are the only time I really get to relax. Last Saturday, my sister called me out of nowhere asking if I could babysit her 4-year-old daughter because she "needed a break."

Now, I love my niece, but she’s a lot. She's super high-energy, and babysitting her basically means I don’t get any downtime. I told my sister, "Sorry, but I had plans to just chill at home today. I need a break too."

She got mad and said, "You don’t even have kids, so you have no idea how exhausting it is. I deserve a break more than you do." I tried explaining that I’ve had a stressful week at work and just wanted one day to myself, but she wasn’t having it. She accused me of being selfish and said, "Fine, I’ll just figure something else out," and hung up.

Now my mom’s involved, saying I should’ve helped because "family helps family." But honestly, I just wanted ONE day where I didn’t have to do anything for anyone else.

AITA?
