Is it in bad taste to not give a gift for a wedding I couldn’t go to?
Post Body

I got invited to a wedding this year for some friends. Great people, and would consider friends, but not best friends. My plan was to give them a check as a gift, nothing crazy. But unfortunately I got COVID a few days before the wedding, so obviously couldn’t go.

Would it be wrong to not give the gift? Hasn’t been a great year for me financially, especially having to miss a week of work. So am I absolved of giving the gift? Or am I still obligated to?
