This may be confusing but I have 4 children with my husband. His mother lives in another state. My MIL HATES ME.

The past 4 times she has visited my husband and her have kidnapped my children from me

Yes my husband and I are together but he goes and stays with her and they refuse me any access to my children ages 1-7 for up to 3 weeks.

She just got into town and I put my foot down and said I either want custody documents for him to take them or a divorce and if he won’t give that they do not get access to see her while she is here.

I wasn’t able to see my kids on my birthday or Mother’s Day I called the police and they couldn’t do anything due to there being no court orders.

She’s in town again and I am refusing to let my children leave to see her. Kids are obviously upset but I have good reason to keep them away from them.

I truly believe in my heart my husband suffers from abuse he has told me he was raped as a child by his mothers friends, and babysitters

The last time my children saw her I went to pick them up as my husband said I could and MIL screamed at my children not to go near mommy because she’s a bad person.

I know this is it for the marriage and I am beyond okay with that but aitah to my kids? Will they understand at some point that I’m protecting them and us and me??
