So to start things off, said person I was talking to is going through their closet and find an adidas duffle bag they had for over 3 years. They tell me that they don't like the dufflebag (mind you they used it several times and the bag isn't in bad condition but still it's three years of use) and are going to buy a bag and exchange it because they don't like it. I tell them that's wrong and it's stealing. She says it's not stealing and I inform her of a time where I bought something from a store and used it once, I didn't like it and returned it the day after. She told me I was stealing for doing that. I told her no that's me making a return and using a return policy. She then says she's making an exchange, I tell her exchanges don't last for three years and it's not even the exact same bag if she does that. She then goes "well they're going to get my money anyway since it's an exchange". I tell her she's being a hypocrite because how was it that when I did a return in a reasonable time period it's "stealing", but her "exchanging" a bag she had for over three years isn't stealing. She then brings up "oh well the item you returned to Amazon and you got your money back so it's stealing its not like you bought something from the same store" I then told her it's my right to make a return if I don't like the quality, not only that but the store I bought it from on Amazon shut down and Amazon let me send it back to them instead. She then goes "then you're stealing from Amazon". I say "no it's not because the store who I originally bought it from closed down and you're a hypocrite and youre making a logical fallacy." I then give her an example for her to break it down into an even simpler way to understand. I told her if" I buy a black couch and have it for three years, and I dont like it and I want to exchange it for a white one is that not stealing?" She then says, "That's not even the same comparison." I tell her again she's a hypocrite and I can tell she's never been corrected before. Am I the asshole for calling her one.
