I (26f) wanted to go on vacation with my boyfriend (25m). This would have been the first vacation for me since I was 14 and the absolute first time for me to leave my country (Germany) for longer than two nights. I was pretty excited for the opportunity to visit Malta in October and worked a lot of overtime to get more vacation days. At first however my boyfriend declined since he believed I'd be too expensive, I was quite sad but didn't give it any more thought. When his parents were over to visit us he suddenly declared that we're visiting Malta together this October and I was so hyped you have no idea. Roughly a week later, which would be today, he told me that he'd rather not go to spend his birthday with his friends and attend a voluntary college thingy. Since I can't take any other week off work, the plans were cancelled. Despite of that I asked him if he'd be okay with me travelling alone or with a friend. He wasn't quite happy with this idea and feels like im an asshole and also feels excluded.

Am I the asshole for brining that possibility up?
