So to start off I’m usually not one to argue in a situation like this, but here’s what happened.

I find an item I liked on Facebook marketplace, text the guy that selling it and he said I could meet him at a pickup location when I’m off work at 4pm. Sounds good, around 3:50 I message him and let him know I’m about to get off and will be heading that way. At 4pm he still hadn’t responded so I said “hey are we still meeting up?” And he never responded. I text him again as I’m nearing the meetup and he still didn’t respond. At this point I decide to head home.

He finally texts me when I’m almost home and says “sorry yeah I’m here”. Keep in mind I live about 30 minutes from where we were meant to meetup. So I told him I was already almost home and wouldn’t be able to make it back out. So he offers to meet the following day, ok cool, I get it, stuff happens. So I’m like “no problem, we agreed to meet at 4:45pm.

Next day I messaged him a few times throughout the day to confirm and he said yes. Around 4:30 I let him know I’m heading that way and will get there around 4:45-5pm. He says ok. I get there right at 5.

This particular place we’re meeting at is a membership only gym, so I pull into the parking lot and text him that I’m here and give him a description of my car. He doesn’t respond…

I text him again letting him know I’m still there, no response. I message him again asking if he’s coming out. No response. Finally after waiting about 15 minutes I leave. I get home and of course the mf texts me again apologizing and saying “my phone didn’t notify me I was moving around” I really wanted to say “you knew we were meeting up did you not think to check your phone dumbass?” But I didn’t say that.

I let him know once again, I was already home. He then texts back and offers to knock off $10 if I still wanted it which seemed fair. He asked if I could come back out the same day, but I wasn’t able to. So I told him that it would have to be tomorrow. This is where I get pissed;

This guy has the audacity to say “if it doesn’t sell by then, I’m getting a lot of interest in it and it’s first come first serve.”

So the conversation proceeds as so:

Me - I would have already bought it from you if you’d check your phone

Dumbass - Again I apologize, my ringer was off

Me - It just seems kind of messed up to say it’s first come first serve when I made two efforts to buy it from you, and you never got back to me

Dumbass - I’m sorry man, people keep ghosting me and I’m using up a lot of my time.

Me - What about the time I wasted coming up there? and gas?!?

Dumbass - That’s why I took $10 off

Me - Which I appreciated, but then you said “if someone else doesn’t buy it by then” which just doesn’t make sense to me. You can’t say anything about ghosting and wasting time because that’s exactly what you did to me twice.

At this point the dude stops responding, I just can’t wrap my head around his thinking. Does anyone agree with him?!? Or AITA?
