I (21M) have been telling my boyfriend (30M) to stop calling my 38 year old dad pops because he's not even that far in age from him.

I obviously can't control that my dad is so close to age with the both of us. I can't admit that I do call my boyfriend's parents mama y papa but they're older and have the parental essence. MY parents and i haven't even had that dynamic since i was 16, so it seems senseless for him to try to mimic something that is non existent.

i think i offended him with this logic and he stated that i shouldn't do that with his parents if he can't have the same, and he's now insecure about his age in proximity to mine. its been an awkward 48 hours
