AITA for making my gf take an uber home on valentines day?
Post Body

I know the title sounds bad so let me give context.

I picked my gf up when she was done with work today to give her the obligatory valentines day flowers and chocolate and take her out to dinner. She seemed happy to get the flowers and chocolate but seemed a little distracted during dinner so I asked her what was wrong, if anything had happened at work that was bugging her. She said that she was "fine" it had just been a long day at work so I shrugged it off and hoped to cheer her up with the sexy part of her valentines day gift.

I paid the bill and drove her back to my place and started making out, but as we were going to get down to it she stopped me and said she had something to confess. She had traveled home to spend the holidays (Christmas New Years) with her family and she told me that she had gone out to a New Years party and that she ended up cheating on me there.

This took me totally off guard, at first I thought she was joking but I eventually realized she was telling the truth. Obviously I feel incredibly betrayed and pissed off, I told her we are done, that shes a bitch for waiting 2 months to tell me just so she can use me for valentines day shit and that she needs to call an uber to take her home. She starts crying, saying she still loves me that it was a mistake that she will never do it again etc. but I told her I don't care, there's no way I could ever trust her again after she betrayed me like that and that our relationship is now over.

At that point she started yelling at me saying that I was "supposed" to forgive her because "it's valentines day" or some crap but after I heard that I stopped listening. I grabbed her, told her she can wait for her uber on the porch and then slammed the door in her face.

Since then her friends have been blowing up my phone saying I'm a huge asshole for making her ride home with some stranger, that I wasn't enough of a man to drive her home, that only creeps without girlfriends would be driving for uber on valentines day and that she could have been r*ped etc.

I do understand their concerns but uber is fairly reputable and safe and I was so pissed off that there was a non-zero chance I would have drove into oncoming traffic if I had drove her home.

Are her friends right, AITA?
