I have (had? IDK if the friendship even exists anymore) a friend I've known since high school. I'll steal the description of the friendship from my other posts
Friend ghosted when he had a long-term thing and when she dumped him he latched on to me. Like he would come over and do things (even at the worst times, but he was having a rough time so I and the girl I was dating at the time told him to come over so he wasn't alone). He realized he fucked up and apologized for being that way. But when things got better, he bolted again.
He tried reaching out to me now and then to try to retain some semblance of a friendship but it would always end with me responding then being left on read for weeks at a time so I don't bother initiating a conversation because I'm just going to be left on read. A month or so ago, he asked to make plans to go to a game. The last message was "let me know which game you want to go to". Yup, left on read.
My friend reached out just to say Happy New Years and continue to make empty promises. He straight up said "I'll only come out on Thursday and Friday nights, but I will leave early on Fridays." Honestly, I think he'll try to dip on Friday anyways.
Anyways, I have to budget for this year and need to start buying tickets to games so I can adjust my plans accordingly. I have not taken this friend into account and just bought tickets for me, my dad and a couple games with another friend. There's a fun trivia night on a Thursday night but I also have no appetite to see this dude.
His brother said he gets why I ignored him and cut him out but disagrees with my methods.
