I live with my parents still. We have a dog and an alarm system.

I often get home while they’re awake and on the couch where I will proceed to go to bed, goodnights and all. When I go to bed they are awake and watching tv and will go to bed about an hour later.

The problem is that they often let our dog out and forget him and don’t lock the door or set the alarm. This turns into them waking up before me and getting angry that the house is unlocked and the dog has been out all night. And instead of them admitting their fault they get angry that I didn’t check to make sure the house was good the night before. Only issue there is that I AM ASLEEP!

They won’t listen to reason and insist I need to check the house over at night because they don’t believe I am asleep. They think I’m on my phone even when I show them my screen times.

So AITA for not checking everything over?
