Here are a few interior pics, part of why I like this car so much is the 80’s, clean simple feeling of the car.
I hope some of you all restore some of these cars, I see so few now :(.
Everything in the car is very playful, it’s all dials, switches, sliders not many buttons, (radio excluded) etc…but intuitive and simple. Corolla practical in 80’s style.
At night time it looks really cools all glowy in an analog way.
No controls at all on the wheel, the stalks are just sticks no buttons on them. Your always reaching out interacting with the dash like Star Trek.
It’s a very reassuring, feeling you never press something you can’t see or undo, very mechanical in that way.
The seat head rest goes up and down on a slider mechanism. The driver seat has a pump that pumps up the lumbar support and the button let’s the air out.
Circle vents are pretty iconic on either side of the driver console as with the dials. It sticks out toward you and kinda feels like a cockpit style a little l, due to the symmetry. Like this part of the car is yours and you do driving stuff here.
The new 86s carry this circular design style over to this day as well.
Unlike new vehicles the radio is all the way at the bottom of the center dash, it feels very deprioritized, which only enhances the driver feeling.
