I hardly if ever gamble in the casino - merchant guild gives me enough gold that my biggest worry is carrying it all around. On this playthrough, though, I noticed a gilded amulet in the gift shop and I hadn't cleared the guild yet, so I needed cash fast and thought it was worth blowing a corruption removal potion after I had the extra 400K that I needed. I don't know if this is spoilery enough to be treated as such but just to be safe I've marked the post and will say: I know that Hugo stops you from descending until you've spent all of your winnings "and more" , so I went from 150K up to 600K and then bought food, scrolls and potions until I had less than 300 gold to my name. Hugo still blocked the stairs and would not move, so I'm wondering if he expects you to spend 1.5X or double what you won or something crazy? I tried to just teleport him away from the stairs because I didn't want to take the alignment hit and anger the shopkeeper, but I had kind of a bad news/good news situation because while the teleport didn't move him at all it did anger him so he spent the rest of his life attacking me. Once those two turns were over, I took the stairs down and forgot the whole thing.
When I went to the dwarven dungeon later looking for map parts, I discovered exactly one shop in the entire place: wondrous figurines. Not a map part to be found lying on the floor or outside the shop or anything. After exploring the entire place I did some scumming and tried killing the shopkeeper to see if the map generated in his inventory and he picked it up. He did not drop the map. I really, really like being able to do the Rolf quest most games for Reasons. Has anybody been stuck on something like this? I can always give it up but I'm lazy and it makes a lot of things much more convenient if I can do it.
