Hi everyone, new here so hope the content of this post is okay.
My husband has been dx with ADHD and recently (about 5-6 months ago) started taking Foquest after meeting with an ADHD specialist. He initially tried Vyvanse but didn’t find much help from it and was subsequently put on the Foquest.
Gradually, over the course of the last maybe 2 or so months, I’ve noticed that he’s become so much more short-tempered and easy to anger, over literally anything. I know that irritability and outbursts can come with the ADHD diagnosis as well, but he’s been diagnosed for almost a year and it has never been like this.
Has anyone who’s been on Foquest had this experience as a side effect or anything similar? I still feel like I’m in new territory trying to support him, so I’m just wondering what other peoples experiences have been on this med and if you maybe tried something else that worked more effectively and lessened these symptoms? I’m also looking for ways that might be effective to communicate this to him that you may have felt helped you.
I also don’t want to overstep and be the one to reach out to his doctor, just not sure how to proceed here. I have my own mental health issues with PTSD and generalized anxiety/panic disorders, so sometimes tensions can run high. I’ve always encouraged him to report side effects but I’m not sure how to approach this one because despite me trying to gently tell him, I don’t know if he even realizes how much his short temper has progressed to becoming an issue.
I’m just feeling particularly isolated, don’t know who to reach out to, and just unsure of how to proceed. I’m exhausted. I want to help him but I need to also keep myself and our daughter in mind, too. Just looking for some guidance or words of encouragement. Thanks for any insight and tips; still very new to navigating this dx.
