ADHD and Career Progression?
Post Body

Hello,

Thanks to anyone who is reading this.

I am 26, I was a cook/chef for the past 7 years of my life. I am leaving the culinary industry because of the insane hours(sometimes 15 hour days), bad of pay, terrible work life balance, and stress.

I have been doing my academic upgrading and have been accepted into college with a path to university for a CS degree.

I have a couple questions relating to other people's experiences and career progression with ADHD.

  • What has been your experience with career timeline? (I'm not super worried as I'll get there when I get there, I would just like to know) did you get to Sr.Dev position in 5 years or 10?

  • Have you found being in management a possibility for you? What have you done to make it easier on yourself?

  • If you started your career later, did you find you could keep up with others? (I'll be out of uni when I'm 30. I'll be doing co-op terms and probably doing some work once I get my college diploma)

  • Did you discuss work strategies around ADHD with anyone? (I usually don't unless I find it 100% necessary)
