Hey! Sorry if you missed us these past 48 hours, blame reddit's management!

The community voted in favour of the subreddit going dark (ie private) to express solidarity with the campaign to save third party apps on reddit.

The tl;dr is that many people have put lots of work into developing apps and software to make reddit far easier to moderate, more accessible, and generally more user friendly. Reddit no longer wishes to have an open source API and now wants to charge those third party developers extortionate fees to allow them to continue. Thousands of redditors rely on these apps to access reddit and to manage all kinds of subreddits, big and small.
