So, I(21M) decided to come to Reddit for help, as I'm not sure what to do, and if allowing myself to try and get some help from medicine is my best bet.
I've been diagnosed with ADHD when I was a child, and even took Ritalin for it back then. A few years later, I moved to a different country and stopped with the meds. It's been almost 7 years since I've taken meds, and for quite some time I tried to ignore that I have ADHD and tried to live my life as a someone who didn't have it; I failed miserably. Homeworks never got done on time, my closet was a mess and I constantly felt like I didn't have the energy to deal with it. Concentration was nearly non-existent, let alone focus. However, at the same time, I've always been REALLY good with the things I did learn! Put me in front of a broken car? I'll fix it! Give me a hard opera piece for me to memorize? You got it! Oh, they speak another language? That's fine, I know the basics and will talk to them! Give me geography-related quizzes? I'm your guy! Like I'm really good with some things, but have poor time-management skills!
Now, for the bit I need help with:
After deciding to talk to a doctor, he prescribed me Vyvanse, which I've heard very good things about! But will it impact my good side too? I feel like I am smart, but that's attributed to ADHD, and wouldn't the meds slow me down in terms of leaning capacity, or the ability to be quick with certain things like I am now? Please help! I'm driving myself crazy over this dilemma!
