So I saw a new doctor today and the only thing she would prescribe me is lexapro. I wasn’t drug seeking and didn’t ask for medication, I just simply answered a few questions that she was asking me about anxiety, depression ect.
I’m almost 100 percent positive I have adhd, but because I took Zoloft and Ativan at one point a few years back, I feel like most doctors are just going to look at that and immediately go for the easy route of ssri’s.
I didn’t accept the lexapro, but because she was so against any “‘addictive” medication I didn’t even bother to ask about adderall or vyvanse.
I’m hoping to try and see if any doctor will test me for adhd or eventually let me try adderall or vyvanse, but because she wouldn’t even refer me to a psychiatrist I’m not really sure what to do? I don’t want to look like I’m doctor shopping I just won’t someone who won’t just assume SSRI. Any advice? I just want to know the next step to put me in the right direction, I don’t have unlimited vacation time to keep having pointless appointments. Thanks.
Edit: Found a new doctor and got prescribed adderall. Was working great until the shortage, now I can’t find it and it’s on backorder lol. Thanks for all the suggestions!
