I’m currently living in rural Michigan and my wife and I are saving to move back home to the Chicago area. I’ve been on SSDI disability since 2012.
I’m wanting to go back to work as I have felt a complete lack of purpose in my life. I had a ton of potential when I was in High School which I graduated in 1997. I was diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type as a child.
I’m just now getting back in the right meds for my ADHD since I was only placed on bipolar meds due to the fact that a sort like 10-30 min evaluation determined I had bipolar. They didn’t even listen to me about my ADHD aside from saying many diagnosis of ADHD was really bipolar.
Fast forward several years later I’m seeing a psychiatrist in a different area, I was in Tennessee during the bipolar diagnosis. This new psychiatrist is treating my ADHD and getting me on the right meds.
Our plan is we are waiting for a low income apartment in the Chicago area. During this time we are saving money best we can to pay for our move home. This area hasn’t been very good to us, it’s very rural and tends to support locals who were born and raised here. Plus not many jobs here besides farm, retail, fast food and warehouse. I’m 43 years old and my skills are more tech related I’m thinking about getting into vocational rehab training when we get back home.
Wondering what jobs are ADHD friendly that I can train into that might fit my strong suit of technology. I’ve worked technical support and tried to run a small computer repair business in the past. My credit is not good so it can’t rely on good credit scores.
Thanks
