Old psychologist was great but she got sick and is no longer available.
Took me a while to find a new one because I was hoping she'd get better and because a lot of people are booked out, not taking on new clients etc.
My doctor reccommended this clinic as inclusive of diverse genders and I emailed them asking about availability. Turns out this psychologist has experience dealing with people with ADHD.
Had my second appointment on Tuesday where she asked me to make an alarm at ten to every waking hour and do a mindfulness breathing exercise. I tried to explain I was very unlikely to do that but she reassured me I could just try. It just seems like not a very ADHD friendly thing to ask. needless to say I have not even made the alarm.
During the session she also said a couple things that irked me: such as saying off handedly "you think your head is a nasty place to be - imagine mine!" or something like that, and also describing me several times as a "super feeler" (?). She is quite a bit more exuberant than my old therapist so I'm wondering whether I'm just comparing them too much.
There's no major red flags but I'm just not entirely sure I trust or like her yet. I would just wait it out a bit more but I only get a certain amount of discounted sessions via the government each year.
What do you guys think? Is this weird?
