TL;DR: Was informed of a homemade smoothie with lots of fruits and veggies that is delicious, nutritious, high in calories, and great for someone who's struggling to meet a healthy calorie goal: https://thegeriatricdietitian.com/high-calorie-smoothies/

A few days ago, I posted a request asking for feedback and suggestions for a smoothie or drink that I could take to meet a minimum calorie goal each day: https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD/comments/qsozrw/meal_replacement_shakesdrinks_ideas
At the time, I had just started Vyvanse and was struggling to eat 1000 calories as a 6'1" 315lb fat guy because I couldn't force myself to eat during lunch.
While a calorie deficit is good, it's not healthy to lose too much weight too quickly as it can be hard on your body in several ways.
That being said, I did notice that I had no trouble drinking water, coffee, tea, juice, etc., so I figure a high calorie and nutritious drink would be my best lunch option.
Since then, I got some great suggestions from the r/ADHD community and have been most pleased with the following:
https://thegeriatricdietitian.com/high-calorie-smoothies/
I've been particularly happy with the Green Smoothie at ~500 calories:
- 1 medium avocado
- 1 cup pineapple
- ½ medium apple
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup apple Juice
Despite having a whole avocado and some spinach, I can't even tell they're there beyond the green coloration. It's smooth, sweet, and makes about 26floz of liquid, depending on the size of the apple and avocado.
Altogether, the ingredients came out to ~$30 for a 5 day supply in Texas.
Granted, this price is a bit skewed by the fact that I went to a Central Market (price increase), got fresh squeezed apple juice (price increase), and selected uncut pineapple (price decrease).
I hope this helps!
