New doctor didn’t want to give me med refills every 27 days for a buffer because he wants to get to know me.
Post Body

For context I’m nearly 40 been diagnosed for adhd and medicated since 13. So I got a pretty damn good track record of not abusing it.

My old psychiatrist left the place I go to. The new psychiatrist I can’t see until February. In the meantime my general practitioner will be prescribing my meds.

I went in to see him and explained that my past psychiatrist prescribed every 27 days because that’s what insurance allowed and it helped me build a buffer if for some reason I can’t get my next refill as scheduled.

He tells me he’s not comfortable doing that without getting to know me, whatever the fuck that means.

Last Friday via the website I submit a request for a refill. Yesterday I get a call from the doctor apologizing because he wasn’t aware that I could request via the website and didn’t see it until that day.

Gee doc, you wonder why I want a safety buffer to my supply?

That’s mine too! And I travel a lot for work but they won’t send across state lines or process early so I’ve run out of meds on trips several times which has basically been day-ruining 🥲
