I was on Concerta for a few months, and while it worked well for my ADHD symptoms, it made me quite irritable and anxious. So my doctor and I decided to try other medications to see if there was one that would work better for me, and so tried Vyvanse for a month.
Vyvanse was pretty awful for me; we tried dosages from 30-60 mg/day, and all it did was make me unmotivated and unfocused, and I had some trouble with word recall. Overall, I actually might function better unmedicated than on Vyvanse.
Now I'm on Adderall XR, tried 20-40 mg/day, and it's a bit better than Vyvanse, but not much (which is unsurprising since they're almost the same drug). I have a bit better focus compared to Vyvanse, but still feel unmotivated.
Neither Adderall nor Vyvanse are anywhere near as effective as Concerta is for me. Like the title says, I've heard anecdotes that because of differences in brain chemistry, either amphetamine or methylphenidate works for an individual, but not both, which certainly seems to be the case for me.
I'm curious if anyone else has found this to be true? Or if perhaps both classes of drugs work for anyone?
