Psychiatrist prescribed new medication but insurance/pharmacy won't let me fill it because it doesn't look new - I'm so frustrated

Post Body

So I've been taking 20 mg XR in the morning and 10 mg IR in the early afternoon of Adderall. I recently started grad school and have new responsibilities at work, so at my appointment today I told my Dr. and she sent in 20mg XR for the morning and then changed the 10mg IR to another 20mg XR. She said I should start it today.

However, the pharmacy isn't letting me refill the new prescription because on paper it looks like it's just the same old 20mg IR I've been taking and it's technically too early. They don't realize the 20 mg XR they're seeing is supposed to be supplementary. If the dosage had changed, they'd be able to fill it, but not in this case.

It's really frustrating because my classes are well underway, I have a ton of new responsibilities at my job and then I have to go to meetings in between work and school. By the end of the day, it's almost impossible to get anything done.

I really wish that one stupid digit wouldn't make this so difficult for me. I feel like such a crackhead having to call the Dr's office and message my pharmacy over and over again. Has anyone had to deal with this?
