Will get the guitar part, promise, but firstā¦ I just wanted to share my experience. So Iām a guy in my 40s, wasnāt formally diagnosed with adhd until last August/September. Tried Concerta but it wasnāt a great fit (18mg was making me feel super revved up, like I had to try hard not to speak fast and feel like I wanted to catch my breath).
Iāve been on Vyvanse but started very low (10mg). Went to 20mg because it wasnāt really doing much. 20mg was feeling totally fine and I could definitely feel it helping some. Went to 40mg recently. Iāve only been at 40mg for a few days and it definitely feels like a much better dosage. I get that the normal adult dose is 50mg but Iāve been taking this all slowly because I tend to have anxiety, not too bad, but itās definitely a thing.
Ok so Iāve played guitar for over 25 years. Itās only ever been a hobby and there were some dormant years for sure, but Iāve played it pretty consistently for the last 5-10 years. So when I started taking the 40mg I feel like something unlocked or awoke in me and I have created one of the most elaborate songs/riffs/parts I have ever made up, and I feel like it was just ācoming out of meā. It was wild, I was able to sit with it, work on it, knew where I wanted it to go. I have never been able to create such a clear expression of something I was feeling. I have been so incredibly inspired by having this experience that I wanted to ask if anyone else feels like āyeah dude. I started treating my adhd and my guitar playing improved significantly.ā ā¦ something along those lines.
So in other words, Vyvanse is looking like a huge success for me! I say Vyvanse but Iām pretty sure Iāve only ever taken the generic Lisdexamfetamine, to be clear. Iāve heard other people have had negative experiences with generic versions but it seems to be working well for me.
