Post Body

Hi All,

I am 39M and recently diagnosed with ADD. While I now have some great help, and making lots of positive changes. One of the major issues is knowing when to focus and actually retaining the information. I am great with computers and written words, though when it is sprung on me, many times it goes out the window - today was a great example. I am extremely annoyed at the situation.

The context: I work in supported employment with the NDIS in Australia. My GM came to speak to me today regarding a participant I was on boarding. We were having a good conversation, and she made a request. I acted on this request, but afterwards, she has said actually this was what I requested. I had somehow managed to miss two thirds of the conversation. If you asked now she had said it. I would say no, it wasn’t an overwhelming day. Busy yes, but every day is. However this situation was just frustrating. We are a high change organisation. Most days were support around 40 participants (people living with disabilities), and I manage 3 support staff on top of this and oversee their support.

I have had many issues with getting the right drugs. But I currently take 54mg (long acting Concerta/Ritalin), 7am, 20mg Ritalin 1-2pm, 20mg 5-6pm Ritalin. Which seems to be pretty good, and my mind turns off about 85%. Along focus. Part of the problem I think is that after such along time - my mind is so used to rushing. That even when going slow I am still rushing.

Any help would be appreciated. If I rushed over deets. Please ask.
