I've recently received a diagnosis from a one-off type of clinic, they write a treatment plan to the doctor, who then prescribes according to the plan.

My psychiatrist would like to start me on Vyvanse, which is exciting! (It's been a long, arduous, expensive journey to get to this point). I expressed some concern about it potentially worsening my anxiety and/or insomnia, as I understand both can be side effects. I've struggled with crippling insomnia throughout my life, and I also have PTSD and anxiety which often manifests physically for me, fast heart-rate, etc.

The psychiatrist assured me that Vyvanse would in fact help with anxiety and sleep, and not to worry. But I'm just... not convinced.

I've been on an SSRI for the past year but I'm weaning off it as, while it helps my anxiety somewhat, I feel it isn't worth the side effects (emotional blunting, gained 20kg, always hungry, lethergy).

I would love to hear other people's experiences regarding:
a) whether you take anything else alongside a stimulant to manage anxiety and/or PTSD

b) whether stimulant medication actually helped your anxiety and sleep
