Just got started taking meds in December and I still don’t have them figured out.
Doc prescribed methylphenidateXR 18mg with the instructions that I could up my dose by one pill every 5-7 days if I felt I needed it.
It went as follows: *one 18mg pill, I felt calmer but still couldn’t “do the thing” and was easily distracted/overstimulated - plus even that little bit of calm wore off by 2pm *2 pills/36mg after a week, the calm would then last until 4 or 5pm - and I was a bit more productive so I got SUPER excited. Upped dose *3 pills/54mg and it was FABULOUS. I was reasonably productive and the effects lasted until closer to bedtime.
I followed up with the doc, and told them I didn’t think I needed to up the dose to the 4th pill. So doc called in a script for 54mg pills and I started taking it. Not even like 5 days later, it was like they just stopped working all together. 😭😭😭 So I had the script upped to 72mg (max dose the doc does) and it didn’t do a dang thing. I even forgot 2 separate doses and comparing - it was like there was zero difference on or off the meds at that point.
Doc switched me to vyvanse60, and I started yesterday. I feel SO FREAKING SLEEPY yesterday and today. But I don’t know if it’s the Vyv or if it’s because I started my period. I have been SOOO unproductive and cannot get my freaking work done to save my life. Feeling so defeated. That week or two where the methylphenidate actually worked was like magic. My adhd didn’t disappear, but I was still able to do things without procrastination, and I was so able to communicate so clearly. 😭 Vyv is SO popular, I was so sure this would be the right one for me. Feeling so discouraged. 🥺
