My adhd life pro tip is to combine a boring activity with another activity (doesn’t matter if it’s boring as well) to increase dopamine reaction.
Most common is listening to music or a podcast while doing something.
Another I do a lot is: To motivate me to take a walk outside I need to do something there. Even if it’s just drinking my coffee outside. Or read a few pages in a book. Or do a little run (more like a sprint).
Something that also helps me so much to call my relatives regularly: Call them while I’m on the way to a place or while I’m doing chores. Otherwise just the thought of calling them makes me die of boredom!
Same with answering email or filling out simple unimportant forms. I can do them best when it’s done by the side of a main project. Like let me just answer this email real quick and then we can go grocery shopping. That creates urgency.
Now I’m curious: What are your favorite stacked activities?
