After years of feeling as if something was wrong with me and my drive to do and complete tasks/stay focused/stay organized- I did some research and came to the conclusion that I have inattentive ADHD (ADD)

In classic ADHD fashion, it took me roughly another year plus to talk to a doctor about this - but I finally did and was directed to a behavioral therapist. She was very nice and we met 3 times over the course of 3 weeks to go over preliminary questions and whatnot before I was directed to a psychiatric for me to start taking meds. Fair enough, 3 weeks was annoying but whatever- I’ve dealt with this condition my whole life, 3 weeks is nothing.

The 4th week is when I meet with my psychiatric - I tell the same stuff I told the therapist. Terrible organizational skills, no time-management, no drive to do simple life tasks like laundry, shaving, etc, always jumping from task to task without finishing, etc

He decides to start me on 25 mg of Strattera for one month and tells me that I likely wont feel any effects for a few MORE weeks. Okay whatever, I’m just happy to be given meds finally. Day 1 of taking the pill I feel super focused and zoned in. Odd due to the fact that the Doctor told me I shouldn’t feel anything right away, but from researching this subreddit…that seems to happen to some ppl on their first dose of taking it. Never happened again from then on. Didn’t feel any effects or see any improvement in my daily life as I continued to take it daily over next few weeks.

One month later, I’m bumped up to 40 mg. Another month goes by and I still don’t feel or see any positive effects. Now I’m bumped up to 60mg as of this past Tuesday and will meet again in another 30 days to likely be bumped up again. Is one month between each dosage really necessary? I’m just getting frustrated because this is becoming a multiple-month process for a medication that doesn’t seem to be helping my ADHD symptoms..
