I was diagnosed as having mild to moderate inattentive type ADHD, most of my life I've been untreated outside of a brief stint in elementary school (I believe I was treated in 3rd or 4th grade), where I was promptly pulled off because I was dropping weight and wouldn't sleep no matter what my parents tried.
I've been living a lot of my life with the standard symptoms of ADHD, and I've been mostly "successful" at weathering these symptoms and being somewhat successful in my career.
However there's one thing I've never been good at, and that's personal confrontation, and what I mean by personal confrontation is, I can deal with confrontation at work just fine, sure I'll feel a little anxiety going in to it, but overall I'm fine. When it comes to confrontation outside of work (with friends, family, so, etc.), that's where I fail, I rarely am able to have a calm and collected conversation when I'm confronted, to the point where depending on the subject I either start to feel very sad and ashamed, or I get frustrated and angry, there's no in-between.
It has caused a lot of suffering on both ends, and it's one of the few things I just have not been able to wrap my head around and solve on my own.
I'm working on getting in to better medication management, and I'm also looking at getting back in to CBT and going from there, but I wanted to get some advice, feedback, and maybe some suggestions.
Thank you!
