Short form content on established social media apps is a nightmare to deal with

I know they're billion dollar companies and are rewarded by engagement on their apps but I think the fact I cant disbale shortform content on social media that Ive been a part of for years is mental. I had tiktok for 2 months and spent way too long on it, its literally crack for ADHD (and Im sure non ADHD people have very similar views). I decided I need this off my phone it's distracting and just not good for me. It encourages me giving into my symptoms need for stimulation etc. Apps like youtube and instagram (which I dont want rid of ok my phone as I use instagram to speak to a few people and if my girlfriend posts a photo of us etc and youtube as I dont mind watching youtube on a lunch break or if I want to watch cooking tutorials... whatever it is) introduce shorts and reels. Shorts are god awful content and reels are just funny but pointless videos. I do not want these on my apps, I dont get any value from them and waste time but I dont want rid of the apps.

I wish there was a way to get rid of them, its to easy to click on and get distracted. I feel like im addicted to some sort of drug when I notice I'm scrolling as I actually have no intention to.

The issue is obviously they wont choose to get rid of reels, my experience is exactly what they want - people on their app even when they have no want to be. They will of spent millions on figuring out how best to get you to engage with that content.

IDK what the outcome should be , its pretty first world problem shit but it just annoys me. You are what you pay attention to and I feel like Im being robbed of my time. I am also responsible it is my decision but im fighting urges implanted by a billion dollar company who spent millions finding out the perfect trigger stimulant reward system there is
