Do meds help prioritization or just focus?

Post Body

I'm just starting on my journey with meds, originally I was on 20mg of Vyvanse, and I just moved up to 30. I'm noticing some differences, nothing earth shattering as yet, but I'm definitely able to focus more. I've had a couple of days where it's made a material difference and as a person diagnosed at 50 that's been quite the epiphany. But I still think I'm gonna be upping my dose further.

My question relates to the changes I'm noticing, and of course there's a giant caveat here that I may well have a long way to go before I'm on my ideal dose or my ideal medication.

However, I'm noticing that whilst I have slightly better focus and am able to spend more time on a task, I'm still procrastinating a lot, and so I have crucial work tasks to be doing, yet I'm spending my focus time cleaning the kitchen. Or writing posts like this. I'm not sure if this is just my dosage. Or if everyone experiences this, and the meds only help with focus and not with procrastination and prioritization.

So to wrap this up, my question is when on the correct dosage, do you find yourself still procrastinating and focusing on other things that are not relevant, or does it help you get the stuff that you need to do done?

It feels like it must, because the whole point is that we're no good at doing the boring things, so if all the meds did was allowed us to focus, we'd still be trying to do anything other than boring things, and they wouldn't be very effective!

My hope is that what they will eventually do is a level the playing field across boring tasks and exciting tasks which means I won't try and avoid boring tasks because they're hard I'll be able to just do what's important in order of priority.
