How to handle compulsive/impulsive behavior?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering how you guys handle impulse control issues. I have a really tough time with it because even if I know what I feel compelled to do is something I shouldn't do I either rationalize it or just do it anyway because it stimulates my brain. Should I ask my doctor about higher dosages for my meds, or are there tricks you have that work? Thanks!
