I don't even know how to explain this. It came up recently because me and my partner are thinking of buying a house, and some of the ones we're looking at have a garage. Some of them don't have anywhere to park other than the garage. Boo. My partner doesn't understand why I'd prefer not to have a garage... I'm like, dude, I can't put my clothes in my closet, you think I'm gonna put my car in a garage? 😒
I wondered if it might be ADHD-related on the basis that the process of "open the door, insert/remove the thing, close the door" is three steps, i.e. two more steps than would otherwise be needed, which is (a) two more chances to lose your train of thought (b) two more instances of having to fight through that weird urge to not do things.
But I've never actually had a garage before, so maybe it won't be as bad as I'm expecting.
