So tonight, I get home from work late night... or I could get home at 10pm.
Tired, need sleep, early day (always).
But... I rabbit hole. Always ONE MORE THING I need to write down, or do, or look up on the internet, or a record that I HAVE to listen to one more time.
Now it's 3am and I have to get up in 4 hrs, will miss my chance to meditate before my day.
HOW THE HELL DO YOU PEOPLE GET TO SLEEP?
It's also a lot harder for me right now - I didn't make the choice, but I'm separated from my spouse, and kids are living at her place full time while I'm in this apartment a short drive away. I used to just go to bed when they did, of shen she did... worked great. Heck, I could go to bed BEFORE her: the sheer body double of another person in the space was enough to help me get to bed. But now I tuck the kids in, then have to hop on the freeway to get to here, and by the time I'm near my bed, I'm just awake and alert (and most of the time, anxious/angry/frustrated from leaving) that the rabbit hole daisy chain starts.
I feel like no amount of discipline is solving this: it's so obvious and my executive function is out to lunch.
Advice?
